"Please Pack Your Knives and Go"

I totally ♥ reality competition shows. The ones where people/contestants compete to be the winner of something. The first one I watched was Survivor..the very first season way back in 2000. Besides Survivor, I also watch The Amazing Race, Top Chef, Celebrity Apprentice and most recently, Design Star and Work of Art: The Next Great Artist. Clayton and I watch them together...it's good quality time.

One of the things I find amusing about all of the shows (and others I don't watch) is the elimination phrase the host/hostess uses at the end of the show to tell the contestant they're out of the competition. Some of them are pretty ridiculous. Here are the ones for the shows I watch and the host/hostess who dishes them out...

Survivor (Jeft Probst)..."The tribe has spoken."
Amazing Race (Phil Keoghan)..."I'm sorry. You've both been eliminated from the race."
Top Chef (Padma Lakshmi)..."Please pack your knives and go."
Celebrity Apprentice (Donald Trump)..."You're fired!"
Design Star (Vern Yip)..."You have been eliminated. Please exit the studio."
Work of Art: Next Great Artist (China Chow)..."Your work of art didn't work for us."

If I had to give out awards, here's what they'd be:

Best Elimination Phrase...Top Chef
Worst Elimination Phrase...Design Star
Classic Elimination Phrase...Survivor
Nicest Delivery of Elimination Phrase...Phil Keoghan
Rudest Delivery of Elimination Phrase...Vern Yip

When I was doing a bit of research for this post, I found the cutest elimination phrase..."See you later decorator". It's from Top Design...an interior design reality show. But sadly, others didn't like the elimination phrases and they changed it to the extremely boring..."We can't live with your design." BLAH!

String Gardens

Wow, these floral arrangements are amazing!!! They are called "string gardens" and are absolutely phenomenal. Created by Fedor in Amsterdam, these hanging gardens are an art installation type project. Using string, moss, grass, and bowls or a glass reservoir - plants are transformed into suspended living works of art that are a variation of the Japanese botanical style, kokedma.

The string gardener says his intention is for the plants to “find their balance” as they grow and become heavy. It's a way to introduce natural elements to the urban environment.

Amazing...phenomenal...beautiful!!!

I ♥ U

This is so precious!!! Suzanne took pics of Madds on her cell phone while Madds saying "I love you" to her. I think the ♥ one is so adorable.

Cuties

I have no idea where this comes from, but I had to add it cuz the things/critters/dudes are so cute. It was a picture one of Clayton's friends posted on Facebook. It's so up my alley. I like the angry strawberry shortcake best. ;)

Hostess Wedding Cake

Okay, here is another great cake. But this time, it's a wedding cake. It's made up of all things Hostess...Cup Cakes, Ding Dongs, Ho Hos, Mini Muffins, Sno Balls and Suzy Q's. YUMMO!!!

"The cake was made by Phil Delaplane of Red Hook, NY. A chef by trade and an instructor at the Culinary Institute of America in New York, Phil teaches chefs who go on to cook in some of the fanciest restaurants in the world. So when Phil and his fiancée Pam began planning their wedding, he knew the only cake that would make their special day complete was one created entirely of Hostess snack cakes." SWEET!!!

Baby Earhart-Pfeifle

Here is a picture of the little one my kindred spirit Kim and her partner Ann are expecting in late February 2011. The baby is facing us with his/her head on the right and his/her legs on the left. And he/she kept wiggling for the camera. Right now, the names they are thinking of are Myles if it's a boy and Riley if it's a girl. I am so exciting for Kim and Ann. They will be the BESTEST parents!!!

My Perty iPhone Case

So I know this is pre-blog, but I just had to post the pretty case I got for my new iPhone a few weeks ago. It's made of shatterproof polycarbonate (which I really need) and feels really smooth in your hand. I luv the pattern and bright colors. But I think aside from my mama, no one else is a real fan. Jane said she didn't like it cuz it reminded her of a snake. LOL

"British Cat Gets Faux Paws"

I saw this picture in Yahoo's Most Emailed Photos this morning. It's such a great story!! According to the photo, "Oscar the cat may have lost one of his nine lives, but his new prosthetic paws make him one of the world's few bionic cats. After losing his two rear paws to a combine harvester while basking in the sun last October, the black cat with green eyes was outfitted with metallic pegs that link the ankles to new prosthetic feet and mimic the way deer antlers grow through skin. Oscar is now back on his feet and hopping over hurdles like tissue paper rolls." How awesome is that?!?!

(The picture was taken June 15, 2010.)

My New Favorite Picture

I came across this picture in one of Facebook's apps called @Hearts. So I looked for it on the web and WAA-LAA...there it was. It's my new FAVORITE pic!!!
